Mudansha is a Japanese term that refers to non-black belt or "dan" rank holders, in KANDOSHIN they are referred to as "DOSHINKA" loosely translated to mean "One seeking TRUTH". The breakdown of non-black belt or "kyu" ranks in KANDOSHIN is as follows before Shodan (first degree black belt).
Okyu (No rank, most beginner students start unranked in KANDOSHIN)
Jukyu (十級 - tenth kyu) - PLAIN WHITE BELT
Kukyu (九級 - ninth kyu) - ONE BAR WHITE BELT
Hachikyu (八級 - eighth kyu) - TWO BAR WHITE BELT
Shichikyu (七級 - seventh kyu) - THREE BAR WHITE BELT
Rokyu (六級 - sixth kyu) - PLAIN PURPLE BELT
Gokyu (五級 - fifth kyu) - ONE BAR PURPLE BELT
Yonkyu (四級 - fourth kyu) - TWO BAR PURPLE BELT
Sankyu (三級 - third kyu) - GREEN BELT
Nikyu (二級 - second kyu) - BLUE BELT
Shokyu (一級 - first kyu) - BROWN BELT
The responsibilities and requirments for each rank differ however students are expected to start handling classes and propogating the art from Sankyu.
Yudansha is a Japanese term referring to black belt or "dan" rank holders. In KANDOSHIN these are referred to as "SHINKA" loosely translated to mean "One practicing TRUTH". There are ten dan ranks numbered from first to tenth degree:
Shodan (初段 - first degree black belt; literally "beginner rank")
Nidan (二段 - second degree black belt)
Sandan (三段 - third degree black belt)
Yondan (四段 - fourth degree black belt)
Godan (五段 - fifth degree black belt)
Rokudan (六段 - sixth degree black belt)
Shichidan (七段 - seventh degree black belt)
Hachidan (八段 - eighth degree black belt)
Kudan (九段 - ninth degree black belt)
Judan (十段 - tenth degree black belt)
The responsibilities and requirments for each rank differ however several years of experience and practice are required for promotion in all cases.
MUDANSHA GRADINGS are scheduled a minimum of every 3 months for junior students (okyu - yonkyu) and a minimum of every six months for senior belts (sankyu - shokyu)
YUDANSHA GRADINGS are scheduled as follows;
shodan - nidan (1 - 2yrs)
nidan - sandan (1 - 3yrs)
sandan - yondan (2 - 4yrs)
yondan - godan (3 - 5yrs)
godan - rokudan (3 - 6yrs)
rokudan - shichidan (4 - 7yrs)
shichidan - hachidan (4 - 8yrs)
hachidan - kudan (5 - 9yrs)
kudan - judan (award based on technical and administrative contribution to the progress and development of the universal mind science/art KANDOSHIN)
